About us
Welcome to Maison Raymond, located in cosy Melsen, a stone's throw from Ghent and on the edge of the Flemish Ardennes. An ideal start for challenging bike rides and pleasant walks in the forests of Makegem or the vast Scheldemeersen. The original mansion with its outbuildings dates from 1866. It was repurposed by Mrs. de Smet de Naeyer into the monastery of "Onze Lieve Vrouw van de Zeven Weeën", literally translated to "Our Lady of the Seven Woes". She did this in memory of her son Verhaeghe Raymond, who died much too early. Hence the name of our beautifully renovated outbuilding: Maison Raymond!
